Volunteer & Internship

Are you passionate about providing support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault?​

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counseling Center offers practicum and internship opportunities for counseling students like you. Join us in our mission to empower survivors, promote healing, and build a safer community. Casa de Esperanza is a shelter for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. We serve Yuba, Sutter, Colusa counties, and Beale Air Force Base.

We operate 24 hours/day, seven days per week, 365 days a year.

Direct Service Support

Direct service volunteers help program participants caught in the cycles of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, and Sex Trafficking by assisting them in regaining control of their lives and moving toward healing. Direct service volunteers must complete a state-mandated 40-hour training in domestic violence and 40-hour training in sexual assault.

Volunteer Committment:

  • Complete State-Mandated Training
  • Live Scan and Background Check
  • Volunteer 4 hours per week.
  • 6 mo. Volunteer Commitment

Indirect Service Support

Casa de Esperanza encourages volunteer involvement and the development of community resources to enhance our programs and build closer ties with the community. Indirect service volunteers help increase the knowledge and understanding of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, and Sex Trafficking in our community through events and outreach.

Are you a Master's degree student in Clinical Social Work (CSW), Marriage and Family Counseling (MFT), or Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC)? Join our team and make a difference in the lives of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Casa de Esperanza is a Shelter for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, Child abuse, and human trafficking. We serve Yuba, Sutter, Colusa counties, and Beale Air Force Base. Responsibilities

  • Provide and co-facilitate individual and group counseling for women and
    children of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Conduct intake assessments and develop intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Attend regular supervision and training sessions.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Master’s degree Program working towards graduation or licensure in Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family
    Counseling, or Professional Clinical Counseling.
  • Strong interest and commitment to working
    with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
    skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere
    to ethical guidelines.
  • Complete 40 hours of DV training and 40 hours of SA training -Participate in biweekly Shelter staff meetings.

Program Details

  • Duration: Choose between a 3-month practicum or a 6-month internship program.
  • Eligibility: Open to counseling students currently enrolled in a recognized program.
  • Training: Comprehensive training provided on trauma-informed counseling techniques, crisis intervention, and safety protocols.
  • Supervision: Dedicated and experienced supervisors will provide regular guidance
    and support.
  • Flexible Schedules: We offer flexible schedules to accommodate your academic
    commitments.
